Over the course of March, Lisbon Youth Centre (CJL) hosts an exhibition of the work by
visual artist Beatriz Chambel.
Nine painting works on canvas embody the childhood memories of the author. The
odours of the soil, objects and sounds from the grandparents’ house in Ribatejo influenced the
colours and shadows transposed onto the canvas.
Beatriz Chambel Cardoso studied and worked as an economist in Lisbon, and had training in
design, glazing techniques, sculpture, history of art and aesthetics, having participated in
collective exhibitions in Odivelas, Lagos, Lisbon Bridge Centre and Sociedade Nacional de
Belas Artes (NationaL Society of Fine Arts) and, individually, in the Armazém Regimental de
Lagos (Lagos Regimental Warehouse).
